I could not put this book down. One of the best reads in a long time. I like most I am sure think someone who has a gift such as Rick Waid just has it. I never knew it was a gift that had to be worked. Made to grow, over time with many things to over come. Rick takes you on this amazing journey alone with him. As I have followed him on face book for a time now it was fun to reach parts that I knew. He has helped so many move on with their life while being able to understand the loss of their loved ones. Thank you my friend...

The journey continues....

I really loved this book. It is a continuation of a journey of a man who has been given great gifts. I am fascinated hearing Rick tell about how he has developed his gifts over the years and of his journey to become an author. You can tell that it really means a lot to him to be able to help others. It is inspiring to know that in the gifts we are all given, we can be of help and comfort to others. I look forward to learning about the next chapter of his journey! Check out his first book: My Paranormal Journey - One Man's Obsession. It is about how the journey began.

I didn't want to put this book down,it was that good. Rick shares his learning and ability's in a way that you feel what he is going threw in his journey. As with his first book it was a very interesting read and very easy to follow and understand. Thank you Rick for sharing your experiences and for opening a door into your world for us. I love the cover of the books as well very well done.

Recently, environmental and social aspects, and rehabilitation and resettlement of project-affected people have come to occupy a central stage in water resources management and any good book is incomplete unless these topics are adequately covered. The concept of rational decision making along with risk, reliability, and uncertainty aspects form subject matter of a chapter. With these analytical tools, the practitioner is well equipped to take a rational decision for water resources utilization.

Part 3 deals with Water Resources Planning and Development. This part discusses the concepts of planning, the planning process, integrated planning, public involvement, and reservoir sizing.

The last part focuses on Systems Operation and Management. After a resource is developed, it is essential to manage it in the best possible way. Many dams around the world are losing some storage capacity every year due to sedimentation and therefore, the assessment and management of reservoir sedimentation is described in details. No analysis of water resources systems is complete without consideration of water quality. A river basin is the natural unit in which water occurs. The final chapter discusses various issues related to holistic management of a river basin.

Whither Asean

Nariten has not written a well-balanced book on Asean especially with regards to solving its economic cooperation problems. He has tried to provide a good framework on what it takes for Asean to do in the face of the onslaught from India and China.
He might be too pessimistic at times regarding the future of the organisation. But looking back at the past achievements of Asean, he certainly cannot be blamed for this pessimism. Writing from an outsider point of view, Narine at times has depended too much on secondary material. He could have done better by interviewing the practioners of Asean economic cooperation, both the diplomats and businessmen in order to make the book even better.
On the whole the book looks like a PhD thesis that it was derived from and the chapters at times lack continuity.
The history of Asean economic cooperation have been better covered by others before and Narine rather than just simply condemning the Asean concept of cooperation could have come up with concretet proposals on how the problems that have engulfed Asean economic cooperation be resolved. A better comparative study will be how Asean compared to SAARC.
Narine should spent more time in SEA and see for himself how the economies that were in a mess just 6 years ago are once again as the dynamo of Asian economic growth.
Pessimism is well-placed at times especially with Asean economic cooperation but that must not deter away from the fact that a lot has been achieved Asean over the last 40 years when even the countries in the association were not even sure of the state of their nationhood.
Narine therefore failed on this score to highlight the achievement while at the same indulging too much on its weaknesses. The day when a similar third world grouping is at par with Asean then only a book can be written to rubbish this SEA organisation.

Really good
By what
Tuttle is a professor at my school, and I took his course on polymer composites. If you are taking ME450 with him at UW, think of this book as a big coursepack. His lectures correlate to the textbook sections in the same exact order, so bringing it to class and writing extra notes in the margins ended up being a lot better than writing your own notes. This is extremely helpful because a lot of these matrices are huge, and writing them out by hand is a waste of time.

The book itself is very good at explaining concepts. Even as he expands on topics from earlier chapters, you are reminded of what you have seen so far, which makes it hard to get lost. The examples are helpful, and doing the problems at the end of the chapter becomes a lot easier if you download the matrix solving programs.

I used this book for the author's class. It was a complete privilege to take his class. This book exactly shows his educational and professional expertise in mechanics of composite material. Half of the book talks about basic mechanics and material properties of composite material including failure theory and the other half deals with analysis of composite structures such as composite beam and plate based on the classic lamination theory. The detailed examples and solutions to them were really helpful in understanding concept. I highly recommend this book for graduate students who begin studying mechanics of composite material.
